The Peace Found In Jesus

I was a complete mess from years of making poor decisions. Ultimately leading to a near nervous breakdown while driving down the freeway. The only thing that saved me was crying out to God for help. He heard me and I believe saved me from a full-blown breakdown by filling me with peace. You can read about that testimony by clicking here.

The Journey

This post continues the journey how God delivered me from anxiety, fear, and worry. It wasn’t a once and done event. I believe God gave me a small taste of peace so I would know the power He has to change any circumstance.

Once I had a taste of peace, I wanted more. But here’s the kicker, there is always our part to do. He wants us to want more of him. I certainly did so I look up Bible verses on peace and here are a few that resonated with me.

One of my favorites is found in Philippians 4:7 AMP And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

This is what happened to me, I couldn’t understand the peace I felt because I had never experienced it before. All I knew is what do I have to do to have more?

The promises of God are conditional because He wants the best for us. His conditions always lead to living a better life. He shows us the route to live in His peace. For example, in Job 22:21 AMP “Now yield and submit yourself to Him [agree with God and be conformed to His will] and be at peace; In this way [you will prosper and great] good will come to you.”

This means do His will and live in His peace and when His will makes your life better who doesn’t want that? It’s a win-win for us. Why does He want the best for us? Because He loves us beyond our comprehension. The same way we love our children.

Here is another one that I found that demonstrates Gods desire for us to live in peace. Isaiah 26:3 AMPC You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

Wow I love that. God will protect us and keep us in perfect and constant peace when our minds are focused on the things, He wants us to focus on. God wants us to trust Him and lean on Him.

The number one thing Jesus wants us to do is found in Mark 12:30:31 ESV 30“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

I know that’s not always easy, but it is something we should all strive to do. This is the very character of Jesus. And our goal as Christians is to allow Jesus to live in us and allow Him to transform us into His Likeness.
